Stephan founded ENERGY COMMUNITY CONSULT in October 2008. Until April 2009, when he became partner of Wattpic, he was acting as Managing Director of EFET Germany, Vice-Chairman of EFET Gas Committee, EFET representative in Advisory Panel GRI SSE, and Managing Director of WATTPIC since January 2009. In June 2006 he joined OMV/Econgas as Head of Business Development , and was responsible for strategy, internal and external business development. He served also as Vice Chairman of EFET Gas and in the Easee-Gas Board of Directors. Before that he worked in the European Commission DG TREN C-2 for more than three years. He worked for GTE as Vice-Executive Secretary from 2002 to 2004 after having joined OMV late 2001. He was previously project manager to set up the Austrian Energy Exchange EXAA and the Austrian balancing energy agency AGCS.

 

Stephan has Phd in mechanical engineering, with a  focus on industrial economics, energy policy and business strategy, and knows four languages.

Wattpic is a company specialized in the provision of knowhow, services and products linked to the efficient use of energy applying a biomimetic approach. This includes demand side management and energy production, particularly tracking technology. Wattpic’s core competence stretches on knowledge from information, power over heat to water purification/desalinization. Its key competence is to develop tangible products from R+D activity adding unique value and know how to its customers. Wattpic has its own international R+D laboratory located remotely close to Barcelona,Spain.

 

Wattpic, founded in the end of 2004 with four partners, has several years of proven experience with stand alone and grid connected energy systems, smart grids, demand side management and production of electricity in photovoltaic parks and for households even in remote areas and consulting activities. Wattpic has years of proven experience in bringing self developed products successfully to the market (e.g. 2 MW of installed and operational solar trackers in Spain), working in fields worth more than €10.0M and working to absolute customer satisfaction and coping perfectly with storms and other natural phenomenon (more than 155 km/h wind speed registered, much higher potential).

 

Wattpic has successfully offered turnkey solar field solutions, O+M operation and has EPC experience. Wattpic is active within several EU research and development projects, is partner of amongst others the Energy Centre of the Netherlands, Fraunhofer Institut, EdF NT, CRIC and funded amongst others by the EC 6th framework program. After years of testing within the Spanish market and the integration of one financial partner Wattpic made crucial steps to international growth through the incorporation of two new partners in early 2009, totaling at 7 partners with equal shares for the moment.

 

Recent awards include: the special national award in 2009 in the Best Innovative Technology-based Projects awards, in the category “Best Business Career”, awarded second place in the 2007 and 2008 Barcelona Entrepreneur Awards as “Company With The Highest Growth Potential,” recognized as one of the R&D centers in Barcelona region by Barcelona City Council.
