Paulo has 24 years of professional experience in the IT industry. In
1990, Paulo joined Hewlett Packard Portugal, leading strategic sales
initiatives in key market segments. He then joined Compaq Portugal as
district sales manager until 1993, when he was appointed Managing
Director of the newly formed Compaq Computer Portugal. Paulo then
became vice president, EMEA Business Critical Solutions and led the
most profitable division, with revenues exceeding $1.0B.
In 2002, Paulo was appointed executive Board member of ParaRede SGPS
where he was in charge of sales, marketing, information systems and
quality, along with being CEO of companies inside the ParaRede Group.
In 2003, Paulo became chairman and CEO, instituting a major company
turnaround, bringing profitability, positive cash flow, reducing the
employee base from 900 to 470, and acquiring three companies in 2005.
Paulo then led an MBO, resulting in the formation of SOFTLIMITS and
SOFTLIMITS África in 2006.
Paulo serves as a member on advisory boards of various business
schools and associations in the technology, telecommunications and
management sectors in Portugal. These associations include the
Portuguese Association for the Development of Communications and the
Technological Plan, a government initiative targeting a new model of
sustained economic development. He was elected Entrepreneur of the
Year in 2005 at the 5th International Congress of Risk Capital, and
was distinguished by His Excellency the President of the Portuguese
Republic, Mr. Jorge Sampaio, receiving the title Commander of the
Order of Merit, in recognition of his professional achievements.
Paulo has a degree in applied mathematics, computer science and
successfully completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard
University, Graduate School of Business Administration.
