SISCOG is a software company that is specialized in the development of
resource planning and management products and systems for the railway
industry. Founded in 1986 by João Pavão Martins and Ernesto Morgado,
both with doctorate degrees from the United States, SISCOG quickly
recognized a market niche where specialized knowledge and advanced
computational techniques could bring dramatic gains for railway
companies.
Almost since its inception, SISCOG has been devoted to the development
of software products that can be adapted to different realities and
have the capability of handling the complexity of planning and
managing key resources in railway companies, personnel, equipment,
track usage, and time. Nowadays, SISCOG offers three fully integrated
products, called CREWS, FLEET and ONTIME, that addresses the domains
of personnel, equipment, track usage and time, respectively.
SISCOG’s client portfolio includes the Dutch Railways, the Finnish
Railways, the London Underground, the Suburban Trains of Copenhagen,
the Danish State Railways, the Norwegian State Railways, the Lisbon
Metro, and the Portuguese Railways.
The work developed by SISCOG has been recognized as being of the
highest international caliber. Among other awards, the following are
worth of mention: both in 1997 and in 2003, SISCOG received the
“Innovative Application Award” given by the American Association for
Artificial Intelligence, the largest and most prestigious Artificial
Intelligence society in the world. In 2006, SISCOG was recognized for
the quality and innovation of its work, with the Laureate Medal
awarded by the “Computerworld Honors Program” and by being selected as
a finalist in the field of transportation.
