Jon joined Miracor in May 2008 with 20 years experience in advanced medical device development and inter-national sales&marketing in cardiology and cardiac surgery. He started his medical device career in 1988 with Prof. Björn Angelsen after completing his electronics MSc degree in Trondheim, Norway. In 1990 he joined GE Vingmed Sound developing single- and multiplane transesophageal probes for ultrasound cardiac imaging.

From 1994 to 2005 he filled various positions in Medi-Stim, a medical device start-up focusing on quality assurance of coronary bypass procedures. These positions included international sales&marketing manager launching Medi-Stim’s products in Europe and Asia. After obtaining 510(k) clearance for their devices in 1999 and signing the US distribution agreement with Medtronic he moved to Minneapolis building Medi-Stim’s US operations. Medi-Stim completed a successful IPO in 2003.

He joined AtriCure in 2005 and introduced their cardiac surgery devices for atrial fibrillation in Europe.

Miracor is an Austrian medical device company dedicated to develop and commercialize the PICSO® (Pressure-controlled Intermittent Coronary Sinus Occlusion) technology for acute coronary syndrome patients.

Miracor was founded in May 2008 by Prof. Werner Mohl and financed by €6M from the European venture capital firms Earlybird and Delta Partners. More than 350,000 patients need improved microcirculation after a stent procedure and this constitutes a more than €1B market potential.

The company has achieved CE-mark and has completed its initial proof of concept clinical trial. In Sept. 2011 Miracor completed the Round B financing raising €7M from SHS, AWS and the exisiting investors. The proceeds will be used to build the Miracor organization, to complete two larger clinical trials and initiate European sales activities. Full European launch is expected in 2013.
