Miracor is an Austrian medical device company dedicated to develop and commercialize the PICSO® (Pressure-controlled Intermittent Coronary Sinus Occlusion) technology for acute coronary syndrome patients.
Miracor was founded in May 2008 by Prof. Werner Mohl and financed by €6M from the European venture capital firms Earlybird and Delta Partners. More than 350,000 patients need improved microcirculation after a stent procedure and this constitutes a more than €1B market potential.
The company has achieved CE-mark and has completed its initial proof of concept clinical trial. In Sept. 2011 Miracor completed the Round B financing raising €7M from SHS, AWS and the exisiting investors. The proceeds will be used to build the Miracor organization, to complete two larger clinical trials and initiate European sales activities. Full European launch is expected in 2013.
