José Basílio Simões, b. 1967, is co-founder, President and CEO of the high-tech company ISA - Intelligent Sensing Anywhere, S.A. He has grown the company from zero to 140 people and 7 million turnover attracting major international customer accounts such as BP, Shell, Repsol and Total.
With the goal of developing an Innovation Technological Ecosystem and sharing his knowledge concerning funding and growing high-tech international companies, he became a Business Angel coordinating the Center Business Angel Club and managing a small BA fund Smart Ventures.
He is also Invited Professor on Entrepreneurship and Technological Innovation at the Science and Technology Faculty of the University of Coimbra.
He holds a PhD in Technological Physics and over 20 years experience in the areas of electronics, telemetry and remote management, real-time embedded systems, digital signal processing and instrumentation applied to energy, utilities, environment and healthcare domains. He is author or co-author of several dozens of scientific publications in international refereed journals, managed several European projects and developed and patented several innovative remote management systems.
